Happy Pride Month!

Happy Pride Month!

2021.06.03

Today and all throughout June we celebrate the LGBTQIA+ members in our community and around the world! We have some fun stuff planned for this month (including new merch!), but it’s OUAI important that we first give you some background on the origin of Pride.

Every year in June, events are held to commemorate the anniversary of the Stonewall Rebellion in NYC on June 28, 1969, which most historians consider the birth of the modern LGBT movement. After many police raids on bars catering to LGBT patrons, the community at Stonewall Inn fought back. The violent response ignited activism that led to national attention.

While Pride events play a key role in raising the profile of the community and commemorating the history of the LGBT social movements, it’s also an opportunity for the community to come together to celebrate.

This month, we're partnering with some of our favorite LGBTQIA+ activists, creators, and business owners—look out for new YouTube videos and IG takeovers @theOUAI each week to see and hear from:

We also wanted to get the OUAI team involved with a Drag Queen Zingo Party, courtesy of our favorite neighborhood spot, Hamburger Mary's in West Hollywood, CA.

We are happy to be able to give back to our local community by donating $20,000 to the Los Angeles LGBT Center to help build a world in which LGBT people can be healthy, equal, and complete members of society.
