The Best Things to Do in North Bondi Besides Go to the Beach
Aussie vibes minus the jetlag. We bottled your favorites—including Wave Spray and Leave In Conditioner—and called it North Bondi Eau de Parfum. For a better idea of the beach town that inspired our North Bondi Fragrance (now back for good in full-size!) Kaesha Grauaug a second-year law student and fashion blogger, shows us the best places to eat, dine, and play in North Bondi besides the beach.
Just like the OUAI's fresh floral scent, North Bondi makes me feel relaxed, excited, refreshed and intrigued all at once. Think days filled with extravagant brunches, swims in the crystal water, lunching at Icebergs and afternoon wines.
Situated 20 minutes from the centre of Sydney, North Bondi is a place like no other. Beach-side bars, ocean-view restaurants and impeccable boutique shopping line the coastal streets. I love North Bondi for its character; drawing you away from the rush of Sydney’s inner city and towards the sweeping blue coast line, it is the perfect place to relax – in style – and with one of my favourite fragrances from the OUAI. Bondi attracts a nexus of both locals and tourists with its charismatic and very picturesque character, adding to the vibrancy of the beach. Whilst the sand and water are the star attractions, if it isn’t for you don’t be shy, there are hundreds of small cafes, bars, restaurants, shops, gyms, wellness centres and gorgeous look-outs to relax.
Bondi Icebergs has so much to offer, both on the menu and aesthetically. For casual catch-ups over drinks, visit the Icebergs Club Bistro. I highly recommend a glass of the La Vielle Ferme Rosé and the vegetable risotto while you soak up the views of Bondi at her best. If you have more time and are after a fine dining experience, make a booking for the Icebergs Dining Room – mid afternoon to evening is the most beautiful time to visit in my opinion, and to taste the Italian and Australian fusion menu.
After a meal, head down to the iconic and very Instagram-worthy Icebergs pool. Even on an overcast day, this would have to be a favourite location on Sydney’s coastline. Home to a stunning 50 metre pool and gym, it is the perfect way to work out, wind down and detox. Don’t forget to bring along your Ouai After Sun Body Soother and North Bondi fragrance to freshen up after a long day under the sun!
The Bucket List
If Sunday sessions over laid-back cocktails and tacos are more your thing, head over to the Bucket List. Directly adjacent to the sand, the on-trend eatery and bar is located centrally to other attractions in Bondi – only a short 5-minute walk from Icebergs – and is the perfect place to meet with friends and relax. My personal favourite on the menu is the Passionfruit mojito. The Bucket List has something for everyone and by night, transforms into a beach-side club with live DJ’s.
Hotel Ravesis is a place I will always come back to when I visit Bondi. The menu on offer in combination with the architecture, interior and view of the coast is nothing short of a perfect afternoon by the beach. Aside from serving the best spritzers in town, Ravesis is the ultimate accommodation for a weekend staycation. Each room is decorated with pastel interiors and novel artwork. You can spend the day swimming in the ocean, followed by a brief afternoon siesta and dinner on the terrace.
Sydney-siders are big on brunching, so choosing the best place can be quite a task. If you’re looking for a diverse but classic Australian brunch, Drake Eatery is a must – located on the corner of Curlewis and Gould streets. Typically, my go to is the Avocado, lime, black pepper and coriander on chargrilled sourdough, but if you’re after something sweet try the chilled watermelon, strawberries, basil, vanilla and Bondi yoghurt topped with honey.
I love that Bondi allows you to visit all the places you want on foot – find designer boutiques such as Nimble Activewear, VENROY, Jac+Jack, Assembly Label and Ixiah dotted around Bondi road and Gould street. Another must-visit store is the one-stop-shop Tuchuzy, where you can dress yourself head to toe in both local brands such as Tuchuzy’s in-house ‘Chosen by Tuchuzy’ label and international designers including By Far and Ganni.
Ben Buckler Point
After a workout at Bondi’s outdoor gym, walk up to Ben Buckler Point for a breathtaking view of Bondi and beyond. This lookout is perfect at sunset and showcases all that Bondi has to naturally offer. As much as I love to venture out and about in Bondi, it is so important to take time out and step back. For me, the view from up here is so calming and a gentle reminder to appreciate the natural beauty, as well as all that Bondi has to offer.
