OUAI Crush Sazan Hendrix's Best Advice For Aspiring Influencers
It takes more than an effortlessly chic mane and a pretty face to pierce today’s super-crowded digital space. Staying relevant in the sea of social media influencers calls for courage and hustle, a combo our current crush Sazan Hendrix has down pat. Since the inception of her YouTube channel in 2011 (where she lends lazy girl hairstyles and critiques her old outfits), the Texas-raised beauty blogger built The Bless Box, her own beauty and fashion subscription box company. Now, she’s working on a different kinda baby—the Kurdish beauty is 28 weeks pregnant with a little girl. Read on to learn the mommy-to-be's beauty routine, the last book she read, and her advice to aspiring influencers.
You have a friend in town for 48 hours, where do you tell them to eat, shop and visit?
Eat: Sushi by H! Best sushi in a cute hole-in-the-wall spot in West Hollywood-ish.
Shop: American Rag- such a fun store to find unique thrifts and discover new brands. If you’re on a budget, try the boutiques down Melrose- they’re always fun and you never know what you’ll find!
Visit: Sorry to be cliché, but I love the Griffith Observatory. So romantic on a starry night!
What does your everyday beauty (hair and makeup) routine look like?
I try to keep my everyday makeup routine pretty natural and simple. It’s all about the brows and glowy skin! For my hair, I love to either wear my natural curls or go for a simple, straight look (with some volume, of course).
What’s your go-to night out look?
A soft smokey eye and nude lip combo. My favorite is the Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Eyeshadow Palette.
A little black dress, like this ASOS one.
A sleek hairstyle using Rose Hair & Body Oil.
What’s a time saving beauty hack every girl should know?
Dry shampoo is your best friend. ;)
Best book you’ve read recently?
Baby Wise. I’m pregnant, so go figure.
Favorite OUAI product:
Rose Hair & Body Oil
What's your idea of a fun Saturday night?
Date night :) AKA going out to a nice dinner and a movie with my hubby. Let’s not make it a late night either, I’m in full-on preggo mode over here lol!
What do you love most about your job?
I’m so grateful for the community aspect of what I do. Having a relationship with my online family is truly a blessing and I don’t take it for granted. I love having a job that allows me to simply be myself. People listen to my opinion and take it into account so that’s pretty cool too, and of course all the freebie products!
What advice would you give someone looking to break into digital influencing?
Don’t wait! If you want to be an influencer, then DO IT. Don’t let fear hold you back from chasing the desires of your heart. It’s going to be a lot of work, but giving up isn’t an option. You have to start somewhere, and it’s up to you to press GO on your life goals and make it happen!
