Jen Atkin Says These Will Be Spring's Hottest Hair Trends

When it comes to predicting hair trends, OUAI's founder Jen Atkin has 20/20 vision. So when you're ready to trade in your winter mane for a new, airy 'do that matches the spring climate, the wisest move you can make is consider Jen's spring 2019 hair trend forecast, ahead. Think blunt cuts, effortless bends, and blinged out accessories.

Blunt is Still Big

Blunt cuts are (still) going to be major. I love to cut the hair dry, as straight as possible, and use my clippers to get a super blunt line.

The same goes for choppy bobs/lobs with lots of texture. OUAI Texturizing Hair Spray is my go-to product when styling these shorter cuts to really piece out the hair and show all the texture.

Beach Bends and Bungee Bands

Ponytails are always popular in the warmer months to keep your hair off your neck and are still very modern. I love to use bungee bands to secure all my ponytails to get them as tight as possible.

Sleek looks with accessories are also huge right now as we saw a lot metal hair accessories and clips on the runway this year. They really spice up your style and make a simple look very fun.

Beach waves are here to stay and there are so many different ways to create them as well as make them unique. I love to use my Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer and diffuser attachment for an easy, effortless bend using the accordion technique.

Blingy Accessories and Effortless Texture

This spring, it’s all about effortless texture. I always lean towards texture that looks more natural, something that’s easier for my clients to recreate on their own.

As far as accessories, I’m still loving snap clips! There are so many fun ones I’m seeing lately. I love the new My Kitsch Collection by Justine Marjan. For cute alternatives to cliché festival season hair, you can trade out your flower crowns this year for sporty braids. I did a similar look with braids recently on Camila Coelho that would be a great alternative hairstyle for festival season. Watch the tutorial in my latest YouTube video
