LustreLux's Secret to Adding Volume to Limp, Short Hair

Contrary to popular belief, there's a lot you can do with a short style—even if it means simply turning the volume up a few decibels. Case in point: mega makeup influencer Katy LustreLux's chin-grazing blunt bob. In a recent tutorial, Katy shared her sexy short hair tips, and let's just say she knows what she's doing when it comes to getting romp-in-the-hay hair. Just wait until you see her genius flat iron hack for adding volume to limp hair. Watch the video above to see what we mean, then scroll down for the full step-by-step.

  1. On damp hair, apply OUAI Volume Spray at the root and blow dry
  2. Spray OUAI Memory Mist on dry hair for heat protection and to lock in the style
  3. Starting with a center part and at the base of the hair, create bends with the Paul Mitchell Neuro Smooth 1.25" Flat Iron on 400 degrees (bends at the root create extra volume). *Katy's tip- leave out the ends for an effortless look
  4. Alternate the direction of the bends to create a tousled style and more body
  5. Flip hair upside down and scrunch in/massage a dime-sized amount of R+Co Dry Shampoo Paste throughout hair for texture and fluff
  6. Create a deep side part by flipping hair to one side
  7. Spray Paul Mitchell Invisiblewear Undone Texture Hairspray only in areas where you want more volume
