Put on your party pants and prettiest pumps, it's almost time to prance into 2018. But not so fast—no plans to dance the night away on New Year's Eve are complete without a posh party updo. That's why we enlisted celebrity hairstylist Alex Brown, who has your shindig look on lock, with a sleek ponytail upgrade that includes OUAI Finishing Crème and a rose gold hair accessory. Take a peek at the step-by-step, ahead.

New Years eve updo

  1. Prep damp hair with OUAI Wave Spray
  2. Blow dry hair straight with a Mason Pearson Brush and Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer
  3. After hair is dry, brush through OUAI Medium Hair Spray to distribute the spray throughout the hair and create hold
  4. Using a fine-tooth comb and your hands, gather hair into a sleek ponytail directly at the back of the head, and secure with a hair bungee
  5. Wrap a small clear hair elastic around the center of the ponytail
  6. Lift the ponytail above the bungee and fan the hair out a bit to hide the bungee
  7. Apply bobby pins horizontally to attach the top of the ponytail to the head
  8. Secure the rest of the ponytail to the head with a bobby pin right at the clear elastic so that the ponytail isn’t hanging and is fully secured to the head
  9. Hide the clear elastic with a Chole and Isabel x Jen Atkin Hardware Ponytail Piece for added detail
  10. Lightly use OUAI Finishing Crème to add shine and tame fly aways
  11. Finish with Style Edit Root Touch Up Powder around the hairline and anywhere the scalp may be showing to create a fuller, perfectly detailed look
