An Insider's Guide to North Bondi, Sydney with Kendall Sargeant
A nuanced blend of rich florals and sheer white musk, OUAI North Bondi Eau de Parfum (sharing a scent with award-winning Wave Spray) was inspired by the meeting of the city and the sea at Sydney’s Bondi Beach, a pretty place Aussie turned Angeleno Kendall Sargeant knows all too well. Ahead, the Revolve Public Relations Director details the do's of traveling down under in North Bondi, with insider tips on the best hiking, husband finding, and hybrid cuisine.
Shoutout to OUAI for capturing my home in a bottle. I have such a nostalgia attached to North Bondi, its a quintessential Aussie beach town with a modern, culturally mindful twist: the vibes are high, the locals are down to earth, the food is fresh, the boys are cute, and the sea salt breeze does wonders for your hair. What's not to love?
Being a proud Aussie native, and in celebration of OUAI's North Bondi Fragrance launch, I wanted to share with you my North Bondi tricks of the trade:
I'm gonna go ahead and cheat on this one by providing more than one option because Australia is renowned for our multicultural, modern take on the culinary industry. The produce is fresh and full of nutrients. I swear to you, every time I jet home for a visit, my skin clears up, my hair becomes shiny and voluminous—and I truly think I have the food, fresh air, and ocean breeze to thank for it. Sorry, got carried away—here are my foodie recs. Porch & Parlour—I used to have a crush on a cute Aussie musician who ate here every morning, so naturally I ate there every morning. Future husband scouting aside, the decor and coffee are great too. Bucket List—quintessential Aussie everything. It's seaside, offers a hybrid of fresh seafood, salads, burgers, steaks, good vibes, and even better Bondi people watching. Beach Burrito—having been based in LA for five years now, I know me a good taco. Whenever I head back home it's essential I visit Beach Burrito. Great Taco Tuesday situation, a super mean Sangria, and obviously it's 'gram-worthy.
Hotel Ravesis is a beautiful beachfront establishment with indoor/outdoor seating, splashed with millennial pink (high engagement guaranteed). Bondi Hardware is an old faithful option, cool rustic vibe, great cocktails, good music— another place to prey on quintessential Bondi boys.
You have to see the Icebergs. If you have Instagram, you likely know what I'm talking about. It's kind of a hybrid of a must see/do/drink experience. Take 'the' birds eye view pool photo, lay out and soak up the Aussie sun or go right ahead and book a table and drink/eat to your heart's content with a full 360-degree Bondi view.
The very scenic Bondi to Bronte walk is a must. I guess it's the Aussie version of Runyon Canyon. You'll weave your way around the coast line and witness ever-changing art formations, sweaty Bondi babes and of course, the beautiful ocean view. The Bondi Markets are held every Saturday and Sunday—anything from flowers to homemade goods to vintage and more. There's also plenty of places to "do nothing" like day spas, nail, tanning and hair salons. The lymph lift Vacuum at Biotyspa is a personal favorite.
If you can't visit Bondi in the flesh, don't fret cause the homies at OUAI went and captured every beautiful element in one little bottle. I LOVE this scent, it makes you feel summertime fine, all the time.
